Linda Greenstein Since January 2000, Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein has served in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 14th Legislative District consisting of parts of Middlesex and Mercer counties.
Greenstein is a member of the Assembly Democratic Leadership team holding the position of Deputy Speaker. Moreover, Assemblywoman Greenstein serves as chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Health and Senior Services Committee. She authored New Jersey’s landmark anti-telemarketing law – the toughest in the country. During her tenure in the Legislature, she also sponsored laws increasing school bus safety and expanding the scope of Megan’s Law, and called for a state constitutional convention for property tax reform. A founder and co-chair of the Legislative Smart Growth Caucus, Greenstein championed legislation providing funding for open space preservation and promoting an anti-sprawl agenda.
Immediately prior to her election to the Assembly, Linda served five years as a member of the Plainsboro Township Committee. She has also served as an elected member of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education, and was vice president of the Mercer County School Boards Association. Assemblywoman Greenstein holds degrees from Vassar College, the Johns Hopkins University, and the Georgetown University Law Center. A specialist in disability law, the Assemblywoman previously was a senior staff attorney at the Community Health Law Project and supervised the Public Interest Legal Clinic at Montclair State University. She was also a clinical associate professor at Seton Hall Law School, where she supervised the Disability Law Clinic. The Assemblywoman has served as a deputy state attorney general in Trenton and as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia. She has been a Trustee of Angel’s Wings – a Mercer County-based social service agency – and is a board member of both the Central New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Linda and her husband Michael Greenstein live in Plainsboro and have one adult son, Evan. |
